A systems and supply chain strategist with an impressive track record of achievement, Darryl has the crucial ability to ‘walk the talk’ and build/command highly effective and motivated teams, anywhere in the world. His experience and knowledge enable him to succeed particularly in new or testing environments where conventional solutions may fall short, and something extra is called for.
Experience
Darryl has managed the delivery of start up operations, designed and executed new import/export strategies, re-built existing ‘lean’ supply chains and integrated new systems for efficiency gains for major organisations in the engineering, software, retail and telco sectors.
Notable successes:
- delivering a successful project for Vodafone to outsource the complete warehousing and logistics operations into a third party with no previous experience in the telecoms industry, including setting and managing KPIs and budgets;
- designing and delivering an end to end supply chain for Hutchison 3G in the Republic of Ireland, including negotiating with the new 3PL warehousing, logistics and repair partners; scoping new processes and structures; and driving significant cost efficiencies through Lean Six Sigma management and alternative and innovative commercial frameworks, releasing cash flow and minimising financial expenditure within the supply chain;
- improving 3UK’s WMS and retail replenishment systems, integrating their Oracle ERP with Dimensions (as an initial interim solution) and then progressing to Red Prairie as the longer term WMS;
- achieving cost savings in excess of £1m per year for Hutchison 3G in the UK, whilst simultaneously managing huge growth in volume for the operation through process controls and improvements as well as strategic supplier negotiations on costs.
Working style
“I come from left field when it comes to finding a solution. I never think about constraints or what ‘should’ be the answer, based only on what’s worked in the past. I’m the guy in the meeting who sees what needs to be done and doesn’t need to be shown how to get there.”
Darryl says his proudest achievement was coming up with an accelerated route to market for a product which transformed an annual traffic of 400k units to 10million.
