VODAFONE

Vodafone Group Plc is the world's leading mobile telecommunications company, with a significant presence in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and the United States through the Company's subsidiary undertakings, joint ventures, associated undertakings and investments.

At 31 December 2009, based on the registered customers of mobile telecommunications ventures in which it had ownership interests at that date, the Group had 333 million customers, excluding paging customers, calculated on a proportionate basis in accordance with the Company's percentage interest in these ventures. The Company had a total market capitalisation of approximately £71.2 billion at 12 November 2009.

  • Managed the original outsourcing of all Vodafone UK Operations to Unipart and set up of Unipart Technology Logistics, Unipart’s first expansion into technology logistics services, to become the benchmark for Telco logistics for years to come.
  • Program Managed the full system integration and delivered interim and full Warehouse management system solutions for all business units between Access Accounts, Hermes, Tolas, Oracle ERP, Oracle WMS and multiple CRM systems.
  • Full set up and integration program delivered with excess of £2m savings ahead of an extremely aggressive schedule with no impact on consumer and reseller SLAs

Hutchison 3G Ireland

Delivery of a winning Supply Chain strategy to create market share successfully for Hutchison 3G in a new territory. This included the identification and induction of all suppliers and partners, together with the building of a successful operational structure focused on continual improvement and the development of customer propositions, in order to maintain industry-leading propositions and service levels.

Developing into a strategic longer-term partnering role, working with manufacturers and strategic partners to ensure key marketing plans, product launches and long term portfolio management had the necessary support and funding to deliver maximum success. 

Building on the outputs of this role to act on a global level within the 3 Group.

Deliverables

  • Scoping and delivery of a full end to end supply chain for Hutchison 3G in the Republic of Ireland, a totally unique geographic and demographic country previously untouched by any (Hutchison) 3G presence whatsoever.
  • Solution included new 3PL warehousing, logistics and repair partners, processes and structures, consignment based accessory portfolio management, sales and own retail terminal stock management and the delivery of a high profile and effective procurement team which led to global representation for the group.

Delivery of award-winning customer propositions, including 3 hour delivery and terminal swap out nationwide in Ireland. This significantly differentiated 3 Ireland from fierce competition at the time the network was launched.

Vodafone / Ghana Telecom

A 70% stake in Ghana Telecom was acquired by Vodafone in June 2008 for a total consideration of US$900m. The service was officially rebranded Vodafone in April 2009.

  • Programme management of the national fibre optic backbone network, including design, build and implementation phases
  • Project management of the Microwave network roll out, toether with the new brand launch programme
  • Re-engineering and project management of the entire Supply Chain division

GE Healthcare / NHS

GE Healthcare is a leading international provider of enterprise solution software, services and technologies for healthcare provider organisations.  GE acquired IDX Corporation, which had won the $1bn contract to supply enterprise software solutions to the NHS for all hospitals in London. 

To complete programme delivery of a major new Patient Administration System into the UK hospitals following the take-over of IDX, the originator software business, by GE Healthcare.
Deliverables

  • Inheriting a loss-making business in 2005, restructured with profits in 2006.
  • Delivered new programme plans and framework to the prime contractor and met on time, to scope and cost performance.
  • Successfully led the negotiations with NHS prime contactor and UK Government for GE’s successful withdrawal from the UK NHS IT contract.

Approached by MCI to start a new telco venture designed to deliver phone services to houses and businesses, creating a strong service vision and a new, distinctive and profitable niche in this market.
